Survival: A Thematic Guide to Canadian Literature is a survey of Canadian literature by Margaret Atwood, one of the best-known Canadian authors. It was first published by House of Anansi in 1972.
A work of literary criticism, as Atwood writes in her preface to the 2004 edition, Survival was an attempt to deal with her belief that in the early 1970s, Canadian literature was still looking for a grounding in a national identity that would be comparable to that of Great Britain or the United States. The thematic approach of the book and its intended non-academic audience corresponds with a focus on contemporary Canadian literature as a point of entry. Therefore, the book does not provide an extensive survey of the historical development of Canada’s literature, but an introduction to what is Canadian about Canadian literature for readers as citizens of Canada. In Survival, literature emerges as central to the development of national identity, what she calls a sense of “here”.
In 1996, the work was republished. In 2004, the work was reprinted again alongside an introduction by the author. In 2012, a third reprinting occurred in a large type edition.

Weiß Survive (ヴァイス・サヴァイヴ, Vaisu Savaivu) is a card battle manga and anime created by Bushiroad. The manga was drawn by Takuya Fujima and was serialized in Bushiroad’s Bushiroad TCG Magazine. A 16-episode anime television series aired between June 5, 2009 and September 18, 2009 as a short segment on the live action television series Card Gakuen. A 12-episode sequel titled Weiß Survive R aired between December 4, 2009 and March 26, 2010, also on Card Gakuen. A manga adaptation of Weiß Survive R was serialized in Kadokawa Shoten’s Comp Ace. It was collected in a single tankōbon volume, released on October 26, 2010.

Man vs. Wild, also called Born Survivor: Bear Grylls, Ultimate Survival, Survival Game, Real Survival Hero or colloquially as simply Bear Grylls in the United Kingdom, is a survival television series hosted by Bear Grylls on the Discovery Channel. In the United Kingdom, the series was originally shown on Channel 4, but later series were broadcast on Discovery Channel UK. The series was produced by British television production company Diverse Bristol. The show was first broadcast on 10 November 2006 after airing a pilot episode titled “The Rockies” on 10 March 2006.
In a special first aired on 2 June 2009, Will Ferrell joined Grylls on a survival trip to Northern Sweden. Grylls also said he has been approached about doing a Man vs. Wild urban disaster 3-D feature film, an idea he said he would “really like to do.” Ben Stiller also signed on for an episode later in the year. Grylls signed on to showcase urban survival techniques in a new Discovery show called Worst-Case Scenario, which premiered on 5 May 2010 on the network. In March 2012, Discovery Channel terminated its contract with Grylls due to contract disputes, effectively cancelling the series.
